Planet of the Ape

Back in '48, the Italians must have realized how hard it is to get home from a successful day at the flea market on a scooter, so they added a large backside to the Vespa ("the wasp") and called it an Ape ("ap-ey" or "the bee").  The new new version of these adorable three-wheel commercial vehicles from Piaggia are now available in the U.K. and will probably never be sold in the U.S.

In Dallas my former boss's exwife has something very similar (not this brand) that she drives around the Park Cities. Don't know if she was ever able to get it insured.

  2. I would kill for one of these. But to pilot it around, I'd really need to lose some 20 pounds or so. But I'd do it.

    Great blog, this.

  4. I think it translates to 'worker bee', or so I've read.

You can totally get those in the US.

Just don't expect them to be pristine off the shop floor, and probably incur a lot of restoration work
