This beautiful Irving Penn photo is up for auction on Artnet's new beta aution site. According to the seller:
Rarely, if ever, at auction, this photograph of a tailor’s shop window on the home front in New York was taken two months after the invasion of Normandy. The proprietor will return to his shop a year to the day before World War II will come to an end (V-J Day). The coats on hangers suggest the ranks of men at war, long absent, some never to return.
This isn't cheap (bids start at $9,000), but it is a Penn...and there's a great story behind it.
